Amazed by both the blade’s quality and the purchase price, the North-African, Lebanese and Indochinese populations quickly adopted this knife.

Some French provinces made it their national pocket knife. France considered it as war equipment, before forbidding both its use and detention. The effigy displayed on the Douk Douk knife is that of a Melanesian god. Against all odds, when the French troops returned, the small Douk Douk knife arrived on the French soil and became popular. A new era began for this knife which soon developed thanks to the implication of the Cognet factory.
