The Thiernois cutlery industry is at its peak and shines throughout France, and Verdier manufactures in the purest tradition. Established in Celles-sur-Durolle, near Thiers, the capital of cutlery for more than six centuries, this factory embodies a French cutlery tradition, preserving an ancestral heritage and looking resolutely towards the future.

Since 1859, when Antoine Delignère, a subcontracted knife smith, chose to create and market his own products, the saga began. The first registered trademark, “LA BOTTE COURONNÉE”, marks the beginning of an adventure passed down from generation to generation. In 1899, Louis Verdier, blacksmith and cutler, married Françoise Delignère, Antoine's eldest daughter, thus consolidating the family know-how. The cutlery was then bequeathed to their sons, André and Albert, in 1924.

In 1937, André took the reins of the company, renaming it "André VERDIER Coutellerie". Over the decades, the company opened up to new perspectives, marketing its products under various brands such as "DELIGNERE", "LA BOTTE COURONNÉE", "ANDRINOX", and "AV". From 1970, André Verdier Coutellerie innovated with the famous LAGUIOLE knives.

In 2018, the company adopted the commercial name "Verdier Manufacture", consolidating the different brands and know-how mastered. It remains one of the few to produce entirely in France, thus preserving the quality and authenticity of its creations.
